§177.848(c): Beyond the main chart, §177.848(c) adds three rules: cyanides, cyanide mixtures, and cyanide solutions may not be co-loaded or transported with acids if the combination could release hydrogen cyanide; Division 4.2 spontaneously combustible materials may not travel with Class 8 liquids; and Division 6.1 Packing Group I Hazard Zone A materials may not travel with Class 3 flammable liquids, Class 8 liquids, or Division 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 5.1, or 5.2 materials. Subject to the exceptions in §173.12(e). See 49 CFR §177.848(c).
§177.848(e)(6) — Subsidiary hazard labels: When §172.101 or §172.402 requires a package to bear a subsidiary hazard label, apply the segregation for whichever hazard — primary or subsidiary — is more restrictive. Same-class materials may still be stowed together without regard to subsidiary segregation, but only if the contents cannot react dangerously — no combustion, dangerous heat, flammable/poisonous/asphyxiant gases, or new corrosive or unstable materials. See 49 CFR §177.848(e)(6).
Refer to 49 CFR Part 177, Subpart B for additional loading and unloading requirements that may apply.
