The Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS) is a UN guideline that harmonizes chemical labeling across production, storage, transport, workplace, consumer, and environmental use. GHS pictograms are diamond-shaped and use a red frame - transport labels use different background colors.
On drums and IBCs that must address multiple sectors, both GHS labels and DOT transport labels may appear together. In transport, the transport label / placard for physical hazards takes precedence and a duplicate GHS pictogram for the same (or lesser) hazard should not be present on the package.
